Program Overview

Future CEO is Back!

Self PACED & FLEXIBLE

The Visalia Chamber’s Future CEO program, presented by ServiceMaster by Benevento, is a work at your own pace digital business education course that teaches children the basics of starting their own company.

The fall program revolves around the scenario of opening a hot chocolate stand, and for the spring, an orange juice stand (or another concept they have created).

The program is produced to communicate at a sixth grade learning level and covers five main categories:

  • Business Fundamentals (filing a DBA, setting up a bank account, etc.)

  • Cost Models

  • Safety/Food Prep

  • Marketing & Customer Service

  • Money Management

Each session is produced by Visalia Chamber staff and includes relevant and real-world knowledge from area business leaders.

Tuition: $25 per student.

Program FAQs

  • We want your student to participate. Our material is aimed at children in upper elementary grades. You know your student and their capacity. Younger students may need a bit more help from you. Older students will see this as an introduction to concepts they can develop more deeply.

  • We want to help market your student’s hot chocolate/ orange juice stand. If you want to share the business location, please sign the permission slip. Some students may take the classes and decided to launch another day or would rather market their business another way. We understand this completely. In this case, you would not need to fill out the permission slip.

  • The fall Future CEO program typically begins in September and March for the spring.

  • This program is designed to allow your student flexibility. Find a time that works best for your student and participate then. Some students will want to watch a webinar multiple times. Other students will watch webinars back to back. The great thing about this program is you can customize it to whatever schedule works for you.

  • We love entrepreneurs! Maybe your student bakes cookies? Perhaps they want to start a car washing business? Utilize this coursework to start whichever business works for you. Our marketing, however, will promote those who participate in the Hot Chocolate Day (November) and Orange Juice Day (May)

  • The Chamber will host Future CEO Hot Chocolate Day (November)/Orange Juice Day (May) for participating students to apply what they learned in the program and set-up their businesses across town. It is not a requirement to participate, but we encourage all Future CEOs to participate! Students can set-up at their homes, or partner with a local business host. The Chamber will advertise students who choose to participate on Hot Chocolate/Orange Juice Day.

  • Future CEO registration covers access to the webinars and downloadable workbooks. Students will need funds to start their business (think supplies to make hot chocolate/orange juice, cups, ingredients, etc.). How to find these funds is covered in the class.

  • As in business, success is measured very differently. We want this fun experience to be a life lesson on how to start a business, create positive customer experiences, manage and save money, and build a brand. There are no grades just an opportunity for learning beyond the classroom.

  • To participate in Future CEO, students must have access to the internet and a computer.

  • Limited number of scholarships may be available each program. Please contact the Chamber directly. If you would like your business to sponsor a scholarship, please reach out to our office.
