Four Tulare County Nonprofits Receive Funding as Part of Nearly $900,000 in Bank of America Grants
Support helped nonprofits address housing, food insecurity, health services, and workforce development
Fresno – As part of its longstanding commitment to supporting economic opportunity in local communities, Bank of America invested $897,400 in 2023 to local nonprofits across the Fresno and Visalia area. The funding came from philanthropic grants, employee matching gifts and sponsorships to help nonprofits remove barriers to economic mobility, specifically through programs addressing housing, food insecurity, health and mental health services and workforce development.
Some funding recipients serve the entire region, including the Central California Food Bank. The bank’s contribution is helping fund the Food Bank’s innovative Groceries2Go program. Several recipients provide services primarily in Fresno County, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County, which recently was named the 2023 Neighborhood Champion, providing the organization with a $50,000, multi-year grant along with leadership training. Other Fresno County nonprofits receiving grants included Live Again Fresno, the Marjaree Mason Center, Poverello House and Habitat for Humanity
Tulare County recipients included Community Services and Employment Training (CSET), which is using its grant for its youth internship program, and the Visalia Emergency Aid Council, which is using its grant for hunger relief. Also receiving funding were Family Services of Tulare County and Self-Help Enterprises.
Grants also went to organizations serving Merced, Madera and Kings counties.
“Nonprofits understand the needs and obstacles the greater Fresno region faces, uniquely positioning them to develop solutions and services required to promote economic opportunity,” said Mark Riley, president, Bank of America Fresno and Visalia. “Bank of America will continue to deploy capital and resources to tackle the barriers embedded within our community and create real impact in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.”
Going beyond the dollars, local bank employees logged 11,000 volunteer hours of service last year to local causes, ranging from assisting with food distribution and providing free financial education workshops in English and Spanish as part of the bank’s Better Money Habits program, to providing toys and clothing to children in need.
